ARCADIA

Entry for the Peace Corps Memorial Competition proposes a space of landscape shelter which strategically reframes the surrounding context and the sky. Stones rise from the ground, supporting a solid metal frame open to the sky. A ground plane articulated by paving stones dips towards the center of the site, coercing people through grove and meadow into the inner sanctum. Water filters through stones and landscape back into the soil, held occasionally at the bottom of the topographic basin, as a transitory reflecting pool or mirage.
